Counting to 5 with your Wymwi:

The top of your Wymwi has a logo on it. The bottom shows the raw leather through the holes. The top hole above the logo on the front can be your #1. With 2 fingers or two thumbs placed on either side of the bead, push it through to the other side. Adjust the beads from front to back to show the correct number. (Please note: It is natural leather, so you will need to break yours in like a pair of good hiking boots.)

Counting to 31 with 5 stones:

To count to 31 with 5 stones, we use base 2. (See Video for more help.)

I find it easiest to keep track by doing a math addition problem. If there is a bead showing in a column, I add that value. If it is blank, I ignore that column. In Base 2, the value of the columns we use in ascending order are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16.

By adding the value of the columns (holes) that are showing a bead, you count upwards to 31. In the sequence below, the number you are counting is to the left of the equals sign. The Base 2 number is to the right of the equals sign. In parenthesis on the far right side is the math problem that adds the value of the columns.

= 1

= 1 0 (2)

= 1 1 (2 + 1)

= 1 0 0 (4)

= 1 0 1 (4 + 1)

= 1 1 0 (4 + 2)

= 1 1 1 (4 + 2 + 1)

= 1 0 0 0 (8)

= 1 0 0 1 (8 + 1)

= 1 0 1 0 (8 + 2)

= 1 0 1 1 (8 + 2 + 1)

= 1 1 0 0 (8 + 4)

= 1 1 0 1 (8 + 4 + 1)

= 1 1 1 0 (8 + 4 + 2)

= 1 1 1 1 (8 + 4 + 2 + 1)

= 1 0 0 0 0 (16)

= 1 0 0 0 1 (16 + 1)

= 1 0 0 1 0 (16 + 2)

= 1 0 0 1 1 (16 + 2 + 1)

= 1 0 1 0 0 (16 + 4)

= 1 0 1 0 1 (16 + 4 + 1)

= 1 0 1 1 0 (16 + 4 + 2)

= 1 0 1 1 1 (16 + 4 + 2 + 1)

= 1 1 0 0 0 (16 + 8)

= 1 1 0 0 1 (16 + 8 + 1)

= 1 1 0 1 0 (16 + 8 + 2)

= 1 1 0 1 1 (16 + 8 + 2 + 1)

= 1 1 1 0 0 (16 + 8 + 4)

= 1 1 1 0 1 (16 + 8 + 4 + 1)

= 1 1 1 1 0 (16 + 8 + 4 + 2)

= 1 1 1 1 1 (16 + 8 + 4 + 2)
